Volunteers from the community are what keeps this essential service running for our residents. Departments across the country are in desperate need of volunteers and are struggling with retention. Calls for assistance are steadily rising, especially in our area. Our volunteers will respond from their jobs and homes to answer the call for help. What if you called for help and no one came? If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact us. There are many roles within the fire service, and each one of them is equally important. You can choose to be a Firefighter, Driver/Operator, or support member. Join Today! For more information, contact us at 318-256-3431 or stop by our Many Station.

Training

The department holds trainings every Thursday at Central Station. Training topics will vary from classroom assignments to hands on techniques. Trainings are beneficial and crucial in providing our residents the best service possible.

Our department holds in house Fire Academies that allows recruits to certify in HazMat Awareness, Operations, Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2. Our department has also begun to hold various other LSU FETA approved courses such as Mobile Water Supply and Driver Operator.

Out of Area Training

Our department is committed to providing the best training to our firefighters. However, there some classes that we are not able to offer due to limited resources and equipment. In these events, our department will make the best effort to send our personnel to classes in other regions. In the past, our department was able to send some of our firefighters to Alabama Fire College and TEEX in College Station.

Call Volume

For 2022, the fire district ran a total of 1,204 calls for assistance. This includes Commercial and Residential fires, Fire Alarms, Grass/woods fires, Car fires, EMS, MVA's, Carbon Monoxide, Dive and Rescue, Searches, Public Assist, LZ Setup, Mutual Aid, and various other calls.

In 2023, the department responded to a total of 1,128 calls for assistance. This past year was extremely busy and we are thankful for our volunteers and duty crew. This past year, we also managed to offer more certification classes and certify more of our personnel. All of these efforts were made in order to better serve our citizens.
